Ekblad Construction is deeply rooted in remodelling. We enjoy the challenge of improving existing structures. From 1981-1998 Ekblad Construction was located in Seattle and was involved in many large and small remodels, often working in a design / build capacity, or with architects. We specialized in second story additions, kitchen remodels and additions, along with Custom home Construction. In many ways our design strengths lie in working within the challenges of what can be done to improve existing structures and spaces. Helping the client navigate through the many considerations of what can be done to improve or add onto a home is our specialty.
Designing and permitting a small or large remodel is not as overwhelming as you may think. We have been through the process many times. Ekblad Construction has many references, interesting projects and happy customers in the Seattle area and the Methow Valley. Whether working with your design or collaboratively with us on a design for your custom home, the process does not have to be stressful. Every site is unique and poses different opportunities and challenges. Although there are endless possibilities for what kind of home one could build on any given site, budget and site topography always seems to be the starting point for driving design. View considerations, exposure to the sun, access, amongst other things, all figure in. Getting it right is a process, an adventure, usually fun and always important. We always aim to get it right.
Small is beautiful. We have been specializing in 1200 to 1700 square foot structures. 2-3 bedrooms 2 bath. This seems to be what most people want in a cabin. Whether it is a cabin or a home the considerations driving design are often the same; efficient use of space, energy efficiency, solar and view potential. We believe that values such as these do not have to conflict with achieving optimally enhanced living spaces.
One can never have enough covered storage in the Methow Valley. Utility square footage always seems to be a good value, and for most people essential to their Methow lifestyle. Whether it be a carport, a garage, a garage with bonus space or guest room above, a gazebo for the hot tub, a barn for the tractor and the animals; we specialize in all of the above.
